Rapport 20 mars

Men just nu ser säkerhetsläget dåligt ut.

Report March 20

The association has daily contact with several people and functions in the village, such as school, retirement home, doctor and church. To endanger the safety of individuals, we do not print the names of our contacts in Ukraine.

The Internet is swaying, so at times it is difficult to get in touch. There is electricity, water, heating. There is food, but the village no longer receives any food deliveries from outside. Bread deliveries from Beryslav are limited and often insufficient.

The village is surrounded, with Putin occupying the south, west and east of the village. It also controls areas north of the village. Villagers see rockets pass above with targets further away. The heavy shelling in the vicinity has just stopped. The villagers are worried about looting that has taken place in other villages, as the Russian soldiers are hungry. Therefore, since the beginning of the war, they have had a roadblock at the entrance to the village and patrol around the clock. They help each other to cope with the situation as well as possible.

The village is 110 km from the nearest peaceful border, which makes it difficult to get down with help or help evacuate families in the village. It is not possible to pay by card in the village, (which works in the cities). It is not possible to withdraw cash. The safety situation for transports can change quickly.

But in the endof this week, we are able to send an aid shipment with medicines, food and possibly clothes that the doctors in the village have asked for. We collaborate with Stefan Amér at the family doctor and hope with joint contacts and transport to reach all the way to the village.

We work with contacts and transports to support and try to get the families who want to get out of there. We have many volunteers who stand up and support in different ways. Among other things, we have Jan Ullberg (Kotz) who has offered to pick up families at the Polish border. But right now the security situation looks bad.

We can help with deposits from Swedish villagers who want to help relatives who live in areas where card payments work. We have helped the families who have managed to get to Sweden in various ways. Thank you for the contributions that continue to come in.  The need for help is great 🙏
